Jollibee in New York

Jollibee has opened its first branch in East Coast. It is located in Queens, New York. Several blogs and news reported that the waiting line is LOONNGGGG!!!

Well, what do you expect? It's Jollibee! It's the number 1 fastfood chain in the Philippines and basically a household name to all Filipinos in the Philippines and abroad. Pinoys are very excited about this, just look at the pic above.

I just wish they open another branch closer to JC. I don't know if I can go there to NY given my busy schedule despite the fact that I really miss it.

Earth Hour - Do You Care?

Today, we are urged to save Earth by turning our lights off at 8:30PM for one hour. Switching the lights off means a "VOTE for EARTH", against Global Warming. The Word Wildlife Fund, the creator of this event, is targeting 1 billion participants from all over the world.

Imagine if everyone does this at the same time for an hour -- we will save a lot of energy, and the Earth of course.

...In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everydaySource: Earth Hour

First Day of Spring: SNOW!

Spring is supposed to be sunny, and the temperature should start to feel warmer. However, the first day of Spring here in Hudson County and probably the entire tri-state area brings us snow.

It is not uncommon though. I heard from a long time New Jersey resident that she experienced snow in April. Wow.

With this in mind, I was wondering if NJ got snow in the summer. That would be something.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Are you wearing green just like the Irish? Today's holiday is symbolized by many signs, and one of them is a rainbow.

It is said that at the end of rainbow, you'll find the leprechaun's pot of gold. However, the photo below is a clear manifestation that the pot of gold is a myth.

Luck, for me, is an overrated happening. We make our luck by preparation. We decide our own fate by making the right choices.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Wishing you all the best of luck! ;)

Writing For Money Is Cheap Already

When you see the title, I assume you knew what I mean. Writing for money is already cheap - especially if your site doesn't have a Google PageRank yet.

PPP for instance, it will be extremely rare to find an opportunity worth at least $5 if your site has a PR of less than 3. I've been seeing crap sites that offer $2.50, even as low as .50c!

What and How do you get a PageRank

In a very simple definition, a pagerank is a means to measure a site's authority. Google measures it by counting how many other sites links to you. The more links you have, the higher score you get. But there are other variables needed to compute for your rank, but it is simply an inbound link to your site.

You get a site to link you using various techniques. You can:
  • Comment to other sites and leave your URL
  • Join blog carnival
  • Submit your sites to directories
  • Join community events
  • Writing articles for ezine and other related sites.
  • etc...
But it requires a lot of time. And we are counting several months here.

Do you Still Continue Writing For Money?

Well, it is simply a matter of preference. If you think .50C per post is worth it, then go for it. Otherwise, do not post. I can understand why the price is getting cheap -- it's probably the economy or the market (meaning bloggers) accept the price and write. Personally, I wouldn't do it.

Goodbye Idol - Francis M.

Sad news. One of the household names in the Philippines has passed away due to Leukemia. He was one my idols and I grew up listening to his songs. He was a modern-day patriot, showing his love to mother country by using his talents.

Below is a video of my favorite Francis M song: Kaleidoscope World. The tune is very nice, and the lyrics is easy to understand. Play it and sing it with me:

Kaleidoscope World

So many faces, so many races
Different voices, different choices
Some are mad, while others laugh
Some live alone with no better half
Others grieve while others curse
And others mourn behind a big black hearse
Some are pure and some half-bred
Some are sober and some are wasted
Some are rich because of fate and
Some are poor with no food on their plate
Some stand out while others blend
Some are fat and stout while some are thin
Some are friends and some are foes
Some have some while some have most

Every color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spinnin’ round, make it twirl
In this kaleidoscope world

Some are great and some are few
Others lie while some tell the truth
Some say poems and some do sing
Others sing through their guitar strings
Some know it all while some act dumb
Let the bassline strum to the bang of the drum
Some can swim while some will sink
And some will find their minds and think
Others walk while others run
You can’t talk peace and have a gun
Some are hurt and start to cry
Don’t ask me how don’t ask me why
Some are friends and some are foes
Some have some while some have most

Every color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spinnin’ round, make it twirl
In this kaleidoscope world
